The long-awaited fight between Lyoto Machida and Thiago Silva will take place at UFC 94 on Saturday, Jan. 31.

The originally scheduled bout was to take place at UFC 89, but had to be postponned due to an injury that Silva recieved while training.

This will create a unique situation in the LightHeavyweight division. There will be one remaining undefeated fighter from this fight, as well as a winner of the highly anticipated Quinton Jackson vs. Wanderlai Silva vying for the number one contender spot.

Commonly, I would suggest a battle between the two contenders for a title shot, but this would mean a very long period without a fight for the champ, whether he is Forrest Griffin or Rashad Evans.

It really isn’t an issue yet, but shortly down the road Dana White will have an interesting decision to make.
