In an interview on The Carmichael Dave Show Dana White discusses some very interesting things. I’ll run over the main points.
- Leading into the Mir fight, Nogueira was having some problems, one of which was a recent staph infection.
- As we predicted it’s possible that there will be a Nogueira/Couture match in the near future.
- White claims to be proud of both Josh Koscheck and Rashad Evans, due to their evolution from, as I would like to put it, wrestlers who can fight to fighters who can wrestle. Both of their stand-up abilities have drastically increased, and they have turned into the year’s knockout artists.
- White wants Rashad to fight Rampage next. Not the winner of Silva/Machida.
- Dana dismissed Rampage’s legal problems, and is certain it won’t be an issue in the future.
- White claims that Fedor Emelianenko isn’t number one. He dismisses Emelianenko’s destruction of Tim Sylvia because “everyone can knock down Sylvia in the first round.” White then claims that if Emelianenko were to fight the UFC’s heavyweight’s, he’d predict the UFC heavyweight to win the bout. This statement directly follows White’s offer to give Fedor a contract. “Today. He can call me right now and I’ll try to cut him a deal. And I’ll pay him better than these other knuckleheads too.” Seems somewhat contradictory, no?
