Helio is widely credited as the founder of Gracie Jiu Jitsu, or Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.

Sherdog reports:Helio Gracie, the father of Gracie jiu-jitsu, is dead at the age of 95. Gracie passed in his sleep early Thursday in Itaipaiva, Rio de Janeiro, after he had been admitted to a local hospital a few days prior for stomach problems.

It’s nice to see fighters getting the money they deserve, though some of the proportions are puzzling. Most glaring is the main event: Fedor $300k and Arlovski $1.5m. I don’t know how much Arlovski pays his agent, but it isn’t enough.

I’m also surprised Lindland and Belfort earned so much more than Sobral and Sokoudiou. The latter two seem like bigger names.

The beautiful thing about MMA is that it so closely parallels real life. Anything can happen. If a fighter is less than absolutely prepared it is likely he will loose to the man who is.
