I’ll be taking you guys through all the basic brazilian jiu jitsu positions, but we’ll start with closed guard. Defining what it is, what it looks like, and following that with your strategies from the top and bottom.
In the closed guard you have your legs wrapped around your opponent on the ground with your feet hooked together behind him.
I often say that much like Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Wrestling, Muay Thai and Boxing are the mandatory ”arts” in mixed martial arts, so too is strength and conditioning.

When I went in for my first private boxing lesson I had zero equipment. Which was ok because they provided what was needed.
So if you decide not to grab any gear before your first MMA class that’s cool too, most gyms will have some of what you need while you decide whether or not you like it anyways. No sense in blowing the money just yet.
